Life Becomes Practice
letter #003
CAC Core Faculty James Finley shares his first Letter from Outside the Camp today. Jim is a clinical psychologist, author, and teacher with a long-standing relationship with the CAC. From his home in California, you can hear the ocean waves applaud his reflections on the immensity of God in the present moment.
In this video, Jim offers a reflection on life becoming practice. With beauty and brevity, he invites us into the rhythms of contemplative life.
“Find your contemplative practice and practice it. Find your contemplative community and enter it. Find your contemplative teaching and follow it.”
—Jim

So beautiful! I love these three practices….
1) Fidelity to practice of becoming more awakened to God’s loving and life sustaining presence in all we do…but with special times of reflections of being open and receptive of God’s Loving and active Presence in our life.
2) Fidelity to the teachings that bears witness of our ultimate identity as God’s Beloved Child, and seeking to be guided in living faithfully to this teaching…bearing witness to our Union of Oneness with God through Christ.
3) Fidelity to communion, firstly and ultimately with God, but also to another person and to others.
Little by little all of life becomes practice…seeking not to break the thread of intimacy with God in being awakened and attentive to His Loving and Active Presence in everything we do all day long.
I am currently reading an old book by James Finley called “The Awakening Call”, fostering intimacy with God.
I’ve just read the first two chapters and can’t tell you how beautiful and helpful this book is to me. I am loving the beautiful words that you have written.
Grateful!
Blessings Everywhere:)!!❤️🙌🙌❤️
